Until a 2007, the site provided all this without even including banner advertising
in the forums.
Why isn't everything free?
Web sites like iSJ are costly in terms of both time and expenses, and banner
advertising can only cover a portion of costs. Significant expenses
include:
- The high traffic levels and
related server/bandwidth fees
- Programming requirements
- Technical and administrative
maintenance
- Time required for user inquiries
Because of this, you'll find that similar web
sites with comparable traffic levels also require payments for premium features
and/or special ads (for example: $10 to $25 per week for "top ads", $5 to add a
link, $2 to bump an ad, $1 per photo, etc.).

Despite this, we allowed free advertising for nearly 8 years, and nearly all ads
are still free. However, there are fees involved for:
