Unhappy Topic: Doctors taking new clients

The Brewers doctors are retiring

Dr. Fairman-Wright is very nice, I met her in the past during her Family medicine teaching residency with the Community clinic at St. Josephs.

Sadly though, both long time family doctors, John and Monica Brewer announced their retirement for June 2008 and now that community/teaching clinic will be searching for replacement doctors for their many patients.
They will be greatly missed, our entire family have gone to them for many years, as have many of my extended family & relatives.

I find it strange that there's this whole doctor shortage, but I called today for an appointment with my doctor at St. Joseph's Medical Centre and was given the choice for an appointment tomorrow at 11, 1, or 2;40. If there's such a shortage, why is there so many open spots one day away?

And to top it off, my doctor is away, so I was given an appointment with a doctor that is filling in for him.

How can this be the case? Our whole medical system is a mess and yet we still pay a huge amount in taxes.....

Consider yourself lucky!
That community clinic also provides services with a resident doctor, and their services also offer 'Doctor of the Day', whereas they have daily slots to accommodate clinic type - next day appointments similar to the other clinics in town. They have been doing this for a few years. The staff there are able to explain how the clinic appointments work.

Many will agree that this type of appointment offering is not even close to helping the huge dent of the doctor crisis in NB. The taxes we pay are not helping, it's the recruiting process for medical staff that is failing us.

just to let you know we book for only one thing because it backs up our day in the office. We don't do it to be mean or anything. Its just that it takes alot longer and people tend to wait alot longer as well if people are in for more than one thing for there appointment.

Just my 2 cents
