H1N1 Vaccine Confusion

Is it just me or are they making this process super confusing for everybody?

1st - they've seemed to change the schedules. It used to say for example: Fairvale Elementary 8-9 6mo-5yr. - now it says 9-3 school age & 4-9 6mo-5yr.

2nd - Why don't any of these schedules specifically mention the high priority groups (ie: isolated communities, people w/ chronic conditions, families with newborn in house etc...) - for something that they're saying is sssooo important - is it me or should they really be more clear?

Do these "high priority" people go to a vaccination that's targeted for 6mo-5yr?

A lot of people (such as myself) don't know the answer to this and I'd hate to see someone wait & it be too late!

How much do flu vaccines cost, does anyone know? And where other than your doctor can you get one? My doctor is 1.5-3 hour wait and with two small kids in an office the size of my bathroom, I would really rather not.

The vaccine is free and family physicians generally aren't giving the vaccine. Because of the refrigeration requirements the news said.

Everyone is to get the vaccine tomorrow. Your kids can either get it during the day, or in the evening. The form your kid brought home was for you to select what time, and how many family members you wanted to have vaccinated.

The references to isolated communities (they're talking about villages in Nunvat, not Rothesay), groups at risk, tots, health care workers, it's not really relevant - everyone gets it tomorrow at the time you select on the form.

The specific question was (or at least I thought it was) about Fairville Elementary, which is tomorrow. Presumably other schools are other days.

It was an example of the schedule I'm looking at. Sorry
OK - so... here's what my household consits of... myself, my wife, a 3 year old & 2 week old (no school age kids). So - can we all go with the 3 year old to Lakefield Elementrary tomorrow and ALL get the shot (except for the 2 week old of course)?

Lakefield Elementary is Friday October 30 from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. for your family.

oh crap - I meant Fairvale Elementary tomorrow. That's what I find confusing. Because I have a 3 year old can I go to any clinic at any school at any time that says 6mo-5yr and ALL of us get vaccinated?

Yes, Fairville is 4-9 tomorrow night, and you can all get vaccinated. Your 3 year old is considered in the high risk group, and since your wife and you look after an infant then you're supposed to get it early as well.

Do not get that vaccine unless you want to have brain problems.. It happened in the 60's and its happening again all over the states!

Do you have a reputable link that supports that?

I have brain problems now. - Perhaps it'll counteract it!

Seriously though - I'm not a fan of this whole thing either BUT!!!...

My wife and I both asked ourselves... If we don't get these shots & our 3 year old and/or newborn get seriosly ill or die from contracting H1N1 from either one of us - could we live with the guilt that we didn't try everything we could. And the answer is NO!

I know the shot's not guaranteed and there's always the chance anyone of us can get sick.
And yes, I'm not comfortable about what we're putting into our bodies either BUT we have to go with the info that's being fed to us now because if my kids get sick or even worse die & I live on - I'd feel like **** the rest of my life but not guilty! And if something happens to one of us due to the flu shot - now, that'll result in a bit of an internal battle with myself but nothing compared to if I made the decision to not "protect" my children.

Note: I put "protect" in quotations because I'm not a firm believer of this but really have to err on the side of caution on this one. But, hell yeah - I'm scared!!!

Swine flu shot

I'll wait 3 months after everything settles down it's a hype thing. Cost 17 million to give it out and when they realizeit was waste of money they will blame the Gov as usual.

So, so sad! As I said in an earlier post, it seems to be taking healthy, young people.
