The Orphan

I just found this on Perez and thought I would post it.

http://perezhilton.com/2009-07-18-or...doption-groups

It's about the movie The Orphan and how they want to boycott it because it will make people look different at adopting.....

I cannot believe that people take things that far over something so foolish.

My question is why no one boycotts the horor movies that have men raping women in them? I think that is disgusting and do not find it entertaining at all. I do not understand why film writers have decided that these days, having women violently raped in their movies is entertainment!!! That is not entertainment!, that is sick and it happens all to often to real women in real life. I just don't get why they won't boycott the likes of that but they would boycott something as stupid as this Orphan movie which is obviously fictional. Actually, you would think that rape would be not allowed in movies at all. In my eyes, that's just like taking a child and allowing some sick pedofile to have his fun all while putting it on film so everyone can rent it for entertainment!!. SICK!!

How is murder entertainment? I just don't understand your differentiation, what makes one ok and the other sick or unusable?

My pet peeve-
What I don't understand is why things of a pornographic nature (excluding Rape, that's obviously not what I'm talking about) Are quicker thrown out or looked down upon than a person being graphically hacked to pieces and planted like they're flowers.

I agree pumpkin. I personally think movies showing women being victimized is so wrong and definately not entertaining in any way shape or form. I am old enough to be one of the 1970's era womens rights fighters and I can cite some awful injustices that many young women would have a hard time believing now.
I digress....

"Entertainment" that depicts rape IMO is sick . I don't care if it is female, male or whatever rape is not entertainment and anyone who thinks it is is sick too. JMO. I completely understand the fantasy of this in the privicy of your home with your loved one. No limit there but I don't think rape is fodder for public entertainment.

Donteat, I see your point when it comes to slasher movies. I personally don't find them entertaining either BUT I'd sooner see that on screen than rape. For one thing it is pure fantasy. People are not going around daily slashing people so it is make believe. Seeing a sicko onscreen most likely would not tempt you to go slash someone. It has been argued though that seeing violence and rape onscreen may prompt someone to go rape someone. I do not know offhand the stats on how many women are raped daily but I do know it is significantly higher than the number of people who are hacked and slashed to death. With or without movie prompting.

I personally miss a good suspense movie.

As for porno...there is a great case of exploitation of the female form. Exploitation because the girls are all so young and you just know if they were older and had more sense, they would not be doing that. Of course some exceptions apply.

I once watched a hard core porn that the girls were so obviously drugged and exploited it made me physically ill. (I was an ER nurse so not much makes me sick) I firmly believe that was filmed rape and abuse. Money wouldn't have compensated for that kind of abuse. Needless to say, I did not watch the whole thing. 10 minutes was sufficent of that crap.

A lot of movies today are about being as realistic as possible. There are many movies that depict some horrific things, that are in actuality a representation of actual occurrences.

What some find as entertainment others find as despicable, what some find as humorous, others find as crude. That's what makes the world go round. To each his own.

Personally I think that if an individual can't distinguish between reality and fiction, or what's right and wrong, than they need to live in a bubble; safe from all outside influences.

Donteatrawpotatoes, I can understand where you are coming from and I guess I can agree with your thinking.. BUT I guess in thinking of what I was, I thought more in lines of Freddy Kruger coming after you in your dreams, a guy with knives for fingers. Or Jason, the deformed kid who drowned and keeps coming back to life even though they keep killing him. Or Michael Myers, Alien monsters, etc . Just doesn't happen!!

It also depends on your view of being entertained. I have been watching scary movies since I was 5 so things like that don't bother me. Look at CSI and such, very highly watched tv shows, all involving people being murdered. But that's just it, it's tv, it's fake and it's not so much the murder it focuses on per say, it is how they catch them or how they stop them and so on. I just see putting rape on tv and movies, etc as being VERY wrong. If your are watching an episode of Cold Case Files or American Justice and it is about a rape case, then no I don't find that wrong! One because they do not reinact the rapes for you to see, you are told rather briefly about it, it is not detailed. Two, they are showing you how the suspect came to be suspected, how they got caught, and how his/her trial goes and then they tell you what the dirty bas***** gets for jail time!!

I dunno I just see it completely different than some I guess.

Inuit, I couldn't have said it better myself!!! =) Except I do like slasher movies :P and I don't really even think rape should be available for private in home viewing though, those could lead to them going out and actually acting upon their fantasies. We don't wanna feed the monsters the fire they need to motivate them!!!

That is also something I don't get, Inuit. There has always been a LIL sex in horror movies, maybe a boob or a bare bum even, when I was a kid and ofcourse you'd blush and be a lil embarrassed. But now, good lord, full on nudity!! You can see full on shots of private places on female bodies and I am not just talking boob shots!!, and now they even show full on sexual intercourse, the only difference is they don't have a camera getting close ups of the nastier stuff!! And why is it always women doing the naked bit anyways ? How come men don't have to flash it a lil?

And Rhiley, you are very right in what you said. To each their own. I just had to post though, I just find it so odd that something so silly would be boycotted yet the likes of women being viciously raped has not been. Weird!!

Pumpkin, I think there is bare nude female bodies shown foe the same reason young girl go around with their panties and private parts showing. It excites males. I am one of the feminists from the 70 era and fought hard to change the rules for women and it kills me now to see girls going as far as to mutilate themselves to please boys. I guess history is indeed a circle.

I was an ER nurse so I saw some pretty awful sights while working there but I will tell you the absolute worse thing I ever had the misfortune to see was a girl of about 17 or 18 with an infected tongue stud. After I had taken he history and while waiting for the doctor to come to see her, I asked her why she would eve get a metal post driven down though her tongue. (I know how much it hurts just to accidentally bite you tongue) She gives me this half grin and say's "my boyfiend really likes it" I had to ask if she liked it and she answered that she really didn't care or it but he really like it if I knew what she meant.
What a sin. How far are girls supposed to go to please a boy. She had about 4 cracked and fractured teeth from chomping down on this stud. I held her tongue in a piece of gauze while the doctor removed this stud along with a chunk of meat that was a part of her tongue. She was given a script for antibiotics and off she went. I just hope she left the stud out.
It's this kind of thing that irks me.Whatever happened to having a brain and that being enough.

UGH that is just NASTY Inuit!!! It is very sad that girls do this to please men and to make sales on their records and movies.

Wonder what happened to the men or women who used to protest this stuff so that it did not make it on to tv and movie screens and music albums!! Apparently they aren't around anymore, or they lost the war!! Sad to see the way things go isn't it.

I remember the Spice Girls. I am sure many do. I didn't care for them or their music much but happened to turn on Much Music one day and the Spice Girls were having a concert and it was showing all the people going to it. Well the reporter stopped this one mother and asked her how she felt about the Spice Girls and the mother replied something to the effect of Oh I think they are great GIRL POWER!! They stand for great things. etc etc Meanwhile standing beside her was two 8 or 9 year old girls who looked they were dressed up as hookers for Halloween. I couldn't believe the mother thought it was great. Girl power yes, but your kids dressing like tramps, nope!! And it's only gone down hill since!!!

It's a shame more mothers wouldn't put their foot down and insist that their daughters be remembered for thie minds not because their boobs or butt crack was exposed all through high school. High school what am I saying? Elementry school. I just don't get it. To dress like a junior hooker is to be treated like a junior hooker.

You know the saying :If it walks like a duck and it sounds like a duck, it must be a duck.". Exchange duck for hooker.

Which can we say is more crude or unhealthy for young minds.......boobs on TV or them sitting on the floor with their xbox shooting men and women as well as blowing people and things up, running cars off the roads, etc? IMO the games are worse and more apt to give kids corrupt and wrong thoughts. JMO

I agree bradorna. Too much sitting in front of an idiot box. I feel sorry for the young ones today. Where is imagination and creativity? Gone. It is an era of instant gratification. I dont't see teens any happier today than they were 20 years ago. Before the common place use of computers, cell phones, ipods and the list goes on and on. God forbid they ever live a second alone with only their thoughts. Now every second must be filled with sound or sight.

I still don't want to see boobs on T.V though. It is sexist , unnecessery and puts girls in a dim light. I really want to see girls depicted as intellegent human beings not eye candy for the males in our society. Girls are worth so much more than that. Too bad they can't see that. It seems that eery generation girls must try to meet even more unrealistic body image of what sexy is.

Right now I think it is weigh about 90 pounds with size D breasts and be stronger than any male around. Angelina Jolie in Laura Croft. Completely unrealistic. The sad thing is I read somewhere that in the US last year the most popular 16th birthday gift was a boob job. How stupid is that?

... ok, video games are worse than serial killers on movies.

I think it depends on the games, pretty much anything you play on an X-box is violent, x-boxes aren't targeted at kids.

Boobs on tv don't bother me any more than a shirtless man. They're just boobs. The human body isn't something to be ashamed of at all. Why in this world that celebrates mediocrity and not being as good as you can be is it so bad to have things to strive for, and why is it only those things that so often get put into light?
There was an add with an obese Barbie that was pretty much -average size is 14, so be happy that you're normal- as the message. Those are the killers right there, and the reason there are so many heart attacks and diseases. Being unhealthy and happy about it is the new cool thing.
If women in magazines are photoshoped, use your BRAINS, we all know they are, and all know it's not real. Saying men don't know the difference is sexist and demeaning to their intelligence.

-Sorry for that tangent, it just bothers me a lot.-

Boob jobs at 16 ... the idea is ridiculous and disgusting. But when grown ,smart women do it, and they know what they want I find it disgusting that people say automatically they did it for another man.

I think Parents just need to be in control more of what their children watch on T.V and what games they play etc. If I don't think something is appropriate for my kids to watch or play I don't let them.

I'd kill to be a size 14. That is absolutely normal and realistic. You are right those mag pics are photoshoped to death and you and I know that, we are adults with a head on our shoulders , but what is the message being sent to a normal size 10 or 11 year old girl? I'm not good enough, I'm not thin enough, I don't look like her, there's something wrong with me. Most little girls that age are a little chubby having not hit puberty yet.

Did you know that the new trend is girls as young as 9 or 10 are starting to become bulimic and anorexic. Where do you think they get the idea that they are not thin enough. I'll bet you it does not come from their parents.

BTW, has anyone seen "Tots and teiras" yet. Now that's totally superfluous and completely ridiculous. What is the world comong to?

Nah. Boobs don't bother me either really. The boob thing I can handle depending on how much of it and how much they focus on that instead of the movie at hand, and it doesn't have to be in every movie made!!!! But, when they are showing a full on naked female body to where you can see her pubic hair and everything, I think that is a bit much. No there is nothing to be ashamed of about our human anatomy BUT it's the message it's sending that bothers me. Doesn't anyone leave anything for the imagination anymore? I mean if you wanna see a naked woman, share that with your partner. You don't share it with the world. I am not embarrased by my female parts but ya won't catch me dancing in a bar waving my shirt and bra around so everyone can catch a peek!! It's called respect for yourself!!

Video games. WAY too much violence in a WAY to many of those games. My dd doesn't play violent games. She plays kid games like mario and stuff like that and thankfully I have a child that will go and play with friends and outdoors before she'll settle into her gaming systems!!! I wouldn't allow her to vidiot it all day and night anyways. No good!!!

Boob jobs? Unfortunately the statistics are probably pointing towards the fact that females do it for men and that is why it is automatically assumed it has been done for a man..... To look good for their men, to look good so they can attract a man, because they are dancers in a bar for men, so they can be featured in playboy, etc. Really what woman is gonna go blow that kind of money to have heavier bigger boobs to deal with just because they want to have big boobs? What good are big boobs to a woman if not to impress a man? Do they get them so they have something to play with when home? Do they get them so they have built in flotation devices? Most of us who have real large breasts without surgery, know they are not much fun. Yea the guys might like em, but I know I don't like having to carry the heavy darn things around (knock on wood cuz I dont wanna lose em to cancer or anything either!!!!). They cause back problems, they near hit ya in the chin when ya run not to mention the impact of them going downward when you are running...they can be very uncomfortable to have. But I understand why you would get annoyed by the assuming. Assuming happenes way to much, and we all are guilty of it at some point or another.

Well out of curiousity, now I just have to ask. Does anyone know any reasons why women get them done that has nothing to do with men in the end? I'm not being rude by posting this ? so please don't take it that way if you did. I am genuinly interested now that we have brought it up, So if ya got any, throw em this way. I'm very curious what they could be now because I can't think of any!! :P
PS: Sorry bout the length. Y'all know I'm long winded by now. :P

Inuit, the toddlers in tiaras INFURIATES me. Those parents should have their children taken away, it's abuse what they're doing, period. Not every mother certainly, but when their child is crying, and they're forcing them to do this stuff... they need their head examined! How can people do that and get away with it?!

Pumpkin, I have my own taste in what I think looks and feels good. I have had an A cup, and I have had a DD cup, I prefer large boobs. Which is why I have made my decision. With losing weight, they're losing size too, and yeah... without getting too tmi, I just think bigger feel nicer.

I agree Don'teat. I think it is pure and simple child abuse. The way they dress them and the dances and moves borders on sexual exploitation of these children. They make 6 year olds look and walk like 20 year olds. Where is their common sense?

I have had big boobs since the age of 11 and I'd give my eye teeth to have smaller sensible boobs. I've lost almost 80 pounds and the girls have taken the loss hard. Now I'm a EE long. Tube socks with sand in the toes hanging on a nail. LOL I guess to each his own in the chest department. LOL

Just to add to the list Pumpkin, it is extremely hard to shoot a gun, shoot arrows, shoot darts with big boobs. They get in the way of crossing your arm in front of you to throw or aim things. If you stand sideways to shoot an arrow, you pinch the girls as you release the bowline. I've done it many times. No fun.

LMAO Inuit I hear ya, these big babies can get in the way of a lot of things. I guess when you grow up with big hooters and carry the weight around over half your life, you have a different outlook on big breasts.

Do fake breats weigh as much as real breasts the same size would? Seriously. I am not being rude I am just curioius. You have to ask if you are to learn.

Don'teatrawpotatoes , since you are obviously one of the people who enjoy having and like having bigger breats yet get very angry when people assume it's been done for the attraction of a man or woman, can you tell us why YOU did it?

And please don't take me as being rude to you donteatrawpotatoes. I am not being rude and was not, if you took it that way. And don't answer if it is uncomfortable for you to do so!!! I just would really like to know because again I have never been a small breasted woman so I cannot see this the way you see it and would like to see it from a different point of view. I am a pretty open minded person when it comes to most things so I like to learn people points of view when they are different from mine.
