shipping to Houlton Me?

does anyone know if there is a place in Houlton to have something shipped? I've often had things shipped to ace hardware in calais, and I'm looking for a similar service in Houlton, does it exist?

You can try Deringer. They are a brokerage company.

They are located at 48 Customs Loop in Houlton.

207-532-2907

or 1-800-448-8108 (this number is supposed to get you the closest Deringer, although yesterday, I used it to get a hold of the Deringer in Calais and got connected to the Deringer in Houlton instead. Either way, when they answer, just ask for the one in Houlton. If you're connected to some other city, they will transfer you.)

I don't know if the Deringer in Houlton holds packages for people, but the one in Calais does. That's where I always get my packages delivered when I order something from the states. They charge $3.30 US per package when you get something delivered there.

There have been discussions on nb.forsale from time to time about this. I believe there was a drugstore mentioned. Try googling in nb.forsale? I have had good luck with deringers in Calais as well as Johnson's. Deringer's is very good but only open office hrs, only accepts US cash and often has trouble making change. Johnsons has longer hrs but charges a lot more for larger items (like 6$ per bundle of 2 compact car tires for instance). The drugstore in Houlton may be a better bet therefore, if you find it hard to get there between m-f 8-5 ET.
HTH
YMMV

Deringer's warehouse in Calais is only open until 5pm eastern time, but the office (where you go pay) is open 24 hours/day. Unless the parcel is very large or very heavy, you can call before 5pm and ask the guys at the warehouse to leave your parcel at the office for pickup after hours.

It is a pain that they only take US cash (you can pay with credit card, but only if your bill is more than $15... which would be 5 parcels at $3.30 each), however, at least there is a currency exchange place at the duty free shop across the road.
