You can recycle glass if you'd like

Why can I no longer recycle glass at the Depots?
Glass is no longer recycled because there was not enough of a market for recycled glass. In addition, more and more packaging was being made from plastic and less from glass. Thus, the amount of glass received was very low, and the amount of plastic bags and rigid plastic has continued to grow.

The Golden Mile Redemption Centre offers glass jar recycling as an added service for its customers. You can recycle your clean jam, jelly, and mason jars at this redemption centre only. Staff will inspect all glass jars before they are accepted. Jars must be clean and lids removed. Golden Mile Redemption Centre, 35 Linton Road, off the Golden Mile, 674-1206

Oooo silly me, I thought they use to accept pop bottles with the glass stuff, and that you could take your to the glass to the bottle exchange. I really have no clue why we wouldn't recycle glass bottles then.

And PEI has changed their bylaw on carbonated beverages and will be getting canned pop as of this month.
not according to this article in the chronicle herald

Fri. Dec 21 - 7:07 AM
P.E.I. can ban can soon be gone CHARLOTTETOWN (CP) — It could be another six months before Islanders can purchase canned pop and beer in P.E.I. stores.
In a year-end interview, Premier Robert Ghiz said his Liberal government continues to study the issue.
"Definitely in the new year. It’s something we’re currently working on," he said.
"You have to work on a recycling system, whether or not you have a deposit system. You have to worry about the jobs associated with the decision."
The premier said government is getting close to having everything arranged.
"Hopefully sometime within the next six months we’ll see cans here in the province of Prince Edward Island.""
