Septic clean out schedule?

Can anyone tell me how often I should have my septic tank cleaned? I've heard anywhere from 5 - 7 - 10 years. I've been in my home for 2 1/2 years and have not had it cleaned. The previous owners allegedly had it cleaned 1 -2 years before we moved in. Thanks!

There is no set date for septic tanks, it all depends on the circumstances. How big is the tank? How many people live in the house? Calling a company that does draining and giving them these facts would give you the most reliable answer.

Oh and you want the best schedule for your tank. You let it go too long and the sledge builds up in it, it can wreck your septic field.
