Places like ICS Canada or Stratford Institute....

Does anyone know... Do NB school districts look at the Teachers Aide correspondence course, as an acceptable source of education for employment?

Thanks

ICS Canada or Stratford Institute....

hello i just finished a course in the ECE from Stratford Institute it cost me 600,i called a bunch of people in fredericton who tells you what courses are credit for.they said that the Stratford Institute was not credit for, i don't think she knew what i was talking about. so you might want to try these two numbers Early childhood services 1-866-441-4340 or education-information 453-3678 they might be able to direct you to the right place. as for ics not sure..good luck!!

Ok So I looked a bit more into it, and it looks as if ICS Canada is accredited with the Distance Education and Training Council... but Stratford is not... Does anyone know if this would be just like taking a correspondence course through NBCC?

Machtech (Home Ed) is also accredited. Funny at the time I took a course through them 4 years ago, CompuCollege wasn't even accredited (I don't know if they are accredited yet).

I spoke with someone from District 8 and you need to have a work term in your course... so these types of correspondence courses, for teachers aides, are no good.

I didn't ask, I just figured it was policy and why question policy. I even asked a tutoring place and they look for "certified" teachers. I can only assume its because they want to make sure who they hire is good with kids. And how can you tell when the person just took a correspondence course. Seems a bit unfair considering I want to take a course, I want to get on track and start a career, but can't afford to spend thousands of dollars to be educated at an institution. I even told her that I wanted to take this course to get started and then in 3-4 years, when I can afford it, get into university for my bachelor of education. I told them they were accredited through the Education and Training Council, does that not matter?, and she said it doesn't matter you still need a job placement during your course.

TheN of course I askED myself... What is the point in having these courses if they don't mean anything. If I hadn't of done my homework, I would have wasted $1000.

I believe the TA course offered through NBCC is an online program. The students still do a work term which they do.
