How to get an apprenticeship/Women in trades

I'm looking to get into an apprenticeship, I'm also looking at a few different trades. I'm not sure where to begin and I had thought that there was some sort of women in trades program but i can't seem to find anything on it. Is my only option dropping off resumes at the Union halls? I just want to make sure that I am going about it the right way. Thanks!

Go to the pipefitter's and the boilermaker's union halls and talk the their business agent. He can guide you in the right direction. Honestly, if you want an actual trade I wouldn't direct your interests to the labourer's union. JMO

The easiest and really the only practical way to start a trade like that is to take a 1 year pre-employment course at nbcc. That makes you a second year apprentice which makes you very employable. If I wanted to be a pipefitter I would take one of the many welding courses, find a job then enroll in the apprenticeship program. It is almost impossible to get a job with out having some form of training first.
