Well ligation meant to tie off the ends. They tie off the ends of the fallopian tubes. I think a lot of the doctors also cauterize the ends too to prevent accidenal rejoining of the ends. Cauterizing means to burn. It can be done either through the belly button as in laproscopic surgery or up through the insides. There will be no visible signs of anything being done when it is done through the insides. Recovery for tubal ligation is only a day or two of discomfort and about a week or so off work depending on how heavy your work is. Each doctor has his own ideas about off work time. Still considered permanant sterilization. i had one when I was 20 years old. Never looked back.

I had a tubal ligation after my second child. We had a planned c-section and they performed the tubal after my Son was born. It meant an extra day in the Hospital and there wasn't much of a recovery time as I was recovering from the section. However, four years later, I have been diagnosed with post tubal ligation syndrome. And it's not fun. I wish I had have pushed my Husband for a vasectomy instead. Look it up and inform yourself before making the decision.

Yes, you are absolutely right about men having a vasectomy. For men it is a very simple procedure. Not even considered surgery by many doctors. A couple sore days and taking extra percautions for about 6 months to a year and that's about it. For a woman it is real surgery, evn if it is done through a laproscope.

But here is the kicker... If you (woman) don't want more children, him getting snipped won't help you much if you two should ever break up (never say never). When my ex and I were discussing sterilization, our marriage was absolutely rock solid into our 5th year.

My ex went on to have another child after we broke up many many years ago. His daughter is a sweet girl and he now has grandchildren. I don't. No regrets just saying. I am sure he is grateful now that I got snipped and not him.
