Does anyone have a home remedy for mosquito and black flies repellant for dogs? They are terrible this year. I thought of rubbing a ddryer sheet over her or putting a few drops of lemon oil or juice on her fur. help

Mosquitoes

I've researched for a long time and I've never found one single home remedy that worked on humans or animals. I'll be watching the post for replies.

One thing is to make sure that you pet is in before dusk if it is in a pen. Vinegar helps ease the itch. Shaded areas will increase the amount of pests or a lot of vegetation around (that's where they hide). Make sure there is no water (especially stagnant) lying around - empty everything. A bird house for swallows and swifts is great to have - they eat a tremendous amount of pests and/or bat house (they do the same).

We had a dog that the bugs just adored and I had to make sure he was not out late in the day or too early in the morning. The poor thing was also allergic to the bites. I was late bringing him in one day and when I went to get him he was covered in mosquito bites. I hugged him and cried for an hour because I was so upset and mad at myself for letting it happen. Fortunately, he forgave me.

Original Listerine, (the gold color mouthwash). Spray around the permineter where you are going to be. I hear it keeps the mosquito's away for upwards of 2 weeks.
