JPG format?

I have been asked to send pictures in in JPG format. Sending them the normal way, the recipient cannot open them. Could someone please explain to me JPG format and is there something I have to have on the computer to do this? Thanks for all your help.

Your digicam format is most likely jpg by default (unless it's an SLR). Either way - you can save as jpg in Paint.

Hope this helps.

If you have a digital photo file that isn't .jpg, such as a .bmp and you rename the file .jpg, this doesn't change the file format. It simply changes the name. The only advantage to this is that some programs won't automatically recognize a .bmp or .tiff, for example. The reason it will then allow you to double-click the file to open and view it is that Windows is setup to recognize that file extension and run it with the associated program such as ACDSee.

If you want to actually change the file from one format to another, you need a have a program that will do it. MS-PAINT will allow you to do this between various file formats such as .jpg, .bmp and possibly .pcx and .tiff. A simple google search can find you a freeware application to do this as well.

Hope this helps.
