looking for birth mother

Anthony Joseph Girouard born Sept. 17, 1954, in Saint John NB, The orphanage was on Manawagonish Road and that means he would have been Catholic
he was baptised Sept. 30, 1954, the lady that stood up with him was Mrs. Gertrude McGraph, he was confirmed on May 5, 1961 and adopted Dec. 23, 1957. At that time there were 4 families of Girouard on Stanley Street in Saint John in the 1954 Directory.

also check with The Cathedral on Waterloo Street , if he was in a Catholic Orphanage. That's how I found my sister and her adopted name . I gave the lady there my sisters birth name, date of birth and place of birth, she gave me everything I needed to know.
I originally went to a lady that ran an organization called "Parent Finders" her name is Irene Prague,( hope it's ok to mention her name, if not I do appologize), she was very very helpful. She opened doors that I couldn't.
Hope this helps and good luck in your ventures.

Irene passed away several years ago. As to the Cathedral, a birth parents name will not show on a baptismal certificate. The birth name of the infant will be listed. (the name of the adoptive parents will be listed)

FYI; years ago, if you were adopted by a Catholic family, your birth mother was also Catholic. Protestant babies were adopted by Protestant families. It is important to get the non identifying info.

I find this info great, and I can't believe how much easier it is to find info then in the old days when everything was locked up so tight. It does not mean the adoptee thinks any less of there family it just means you would like to know where you came from if there were any health problems where so much is heritary etc.
Apparently there were two ladies in the phone records, that would have had to be 19 or over to be mentioned, Ann and Emily and they both worked at City Laundry.
We will call Fredricton tomorrow and see about getting the non-indentifying file and to see if anyone had been looking for him.
any one hearing of someone looking for the name Girouard please let me know. and thanks lady for info, I will keep you posted if we find anything.

although Mrs Praeg passed away 8 YRS ago, we gave all the material;research books. etc to her friend and associate so that Parent Finders could contine to help families reconnect. Her name is Marie, she works out of a Fredericton office. I believe she has a web site as well.

Marie Crouse is the contact for Parent Finders NB., and yes there is a website, just google it. The first step is to get all non-identifying info. from post adoption services.(Province of NB.) Then contact parent finders.
