iSJ does not encourage the backyard breeding of animals, nor breeding for profit. Many of the "professional" breeders will tell you they do not make money from breeding, but rather they do it for the furthering of good specimens. While we understand there will always be breeding, we recommend if you are getting a purebred, you look for genetic testing, health guarantee, the ability to see both parents papers (or they are not registered with the Kennel club, there for can not be called a purebred). There are many good breeders in the Atlantic Provinces, if you chose to go that way, ask to see some of their pets offspring, so you can see how they look. Do not breed them yourselves.
We do not permit breeders names to be posted here, so please do not come here looking for breeders. We see daily the cost of over breeding animals that are not breed quality just by looking at the shelter.
There are too many unwanted animals in this world, pure or not, and there isnt any sense in adding to the piles already in the shelter or the dump. Please remember that whatever you get, is a life long commitment, not a fad or a implusive buy. If you are still stuck on a prurebred, there are many rescue groups out there that can help you save an animal of a specific breed.

This is a place to discuss our fur babies, feather babies, scale babies etc. A place to ask questions about them, show them off or brag.
