Flooding Update
Issued: September 9, 2008
Officials from the Municipal Operations Department report the following roads remain closed due to damage from the weekend flooding:
• Todd Street between Simpson Drive and Rayland Street
• Kennebecasis Drive
• Lorneville Road
All other streets, including those in the Glen Falls area and the Railway underpass between Rothesay Avenue and Rothesay Road, are open to traffic. Glen Falls streets are being swept to clean flood debris.
Four Saint John Works work crews continue to repair flood damages to roads, shoulders and culverts on:

• Lorneville Road
• Anthony's Cove Road
• Hillcrest Road
• Sandy Point Road
Many streets remain covered with gravel and debris and the shoulders have been washed out. Officials are asking motorists to use extreme caution as crews from Municipal Operations continue to repair damages and clean up.
Saint John Water (SJW) reports that the drinking water is safe. SJW continues to monitor for elevated turbidity levels in the drinking water. The Department of the Environment has been notified that as a result of the increase in the volume of water, several pumping stations in the area are being bypassed. Staff at SJW are working to mitigate impacts to the water and waste water system.
