Anyone know what happened tonight on the bridge? I was coming home about 10 pm, had to wait 15 minutes to get through (I timed it)- traffic was backed up, both lanes, to at least the Market Square on-ramp. When they finally let us through, there was nothing there, but I had seen police car lights in the distance.

I believe it was a police chase, trying to pull the car over and used stop sticks.

I drove into the city last night around 8pm and there was at least 10 police vehicles all with their lights on , one after another on Highway 7 just before the Grand Bay cut off, then more on the harbour bridge. I figure something big was going down. Would all of those vehicles be chasing the same car like that ?

Yea, the couple in the truck robbed a church, and then fled. It is on the news today.

SAINT JOHN, NB - A 30 kilometre police chase has landed a couple in their 30's behind bars for the weekend.
Police responded to a robbery at a north end church and ended up chasing the duo all the way to Westfield.
No one was hurt , but the suspects could have a bad case of the jiggles because after police slowed their vehicle with a spike belt on the Harbour Bridge, they drove on tire rims for close to 25 kilometres.
The pair will appear in remand court this morning and will likely be held through the long weekend.

Desperate times. With the costs rising but wages staying the same in the non-min.wage jobs... things can be rough. Still, robbery is a little bit against the moral code, eh?
