Me again,

Does anyone know if there are any local farms that sell things directly to the public like eggs, meat, even produce? I am most interested in free run/organic eggs and poultry but would check out any leads at all. I can get eggs and sometimes chicken at the grocery store, oh and what about organic milk?

Thank you again!!

Hi there,

I believe that the Red Barn (I think that is what its called, it used to be Watters) on Loch Lomond Road sells that type of stuff. Good luck!

There's a farm in Upham called A&K Meats. I used to buy all my meat from them. They do all their own stuff. The people that own it are very nice and they are very inexpensive. It's only a 25 minute drive from town and worth it. They do have set hours (you'd have to call to find out what they are) but I know I've showed up there on an off hour and they still opened their doors for me. You should check them out. In the summertime, just before you get to that farm, there's a guy that sells fresh vegetables from his gardens. He has a fridge set up at the top of his driveway and it's on the honor system for payment. (I think he might have a few things he sells in the winter, but not 100%)

Kuinshoeve in Rothesay sells pork, lamb, beef, buffalo, and chicken.

They raise the first three, I'm not sure about the buffalo and they don't raise the chickens.

The stuff they raise is naturally raised/free range but not organic for the fact that they sometimes feed them bread and other treats that are not organic. Basically, for all purposes, it is organic, just not certified. The great thing about them is that the same two families raise and butcher the meat so it is the place to go for specialty cuts that you can call ahead for. The stuff is amazing and the prices are great too. The chickens they sell are hormone free, are often given better living conditions than typical chickens, and are local.

When the Kingston Farmer's Market is open there are products there you can pick up. Cedar Ridge/Hill (I forget) sells beef, chicken, pork, eggs, and more. The guy, Terry, that sells there raises the latter three himself and moonlights at another farm that raises the beef. It is all naturally raised and I believe organic. He is a great guy and if you give him a call or e mail earlier in the week he can bring exactly what you want.sd

If you find yourself in Fredericton on a Saturday morning there are a few stalls that have either hormone free, naturally raised, or organic meat products.
