Went to see it and loved it, but ***it is most definitely NOT a kids movie, in fact I don't know if I would suggest that even younger or emotional teens see it, 14A rating notwithstanding.

Agreed it is pretty gory for a rated 14 flick.

I watched the trailer for it last week and really wanted to see it, but noticed that it was in another language with subtitles. Is that true? I'm not into subtitles, but the storyline seemed awesome.

It is subtitles, but you won't notice after a bit.

Pan's Labyrinth is the story of a young girl who travels with her pregnant mother to live with her mother's new husband in a rural area up North in Spain, 1944, after Franco's victory. The girl lives in an imaginary world of her own creation and faces the real world with much chagrin. Post-war Fascist repression is at its height in rural Spain and the girl must come to terms with that through a fable of her own.

It should have got a higher rating. It is pretty gory and not something for young children. I know my mother was mislead by the preview and thought it was a fantasy film. I personally didn't know what it was about until I went to go see it and still enjoyed it. Afterwards I told my mother and she wasn't interested in it anymore mainly because of the subtitles. Honestly, I'd rather watch a movie with subtitles than have English dubbing because sometimes the English dubbing is horrible and the translation is sometimes off. This is one of my favourite movies.

I don't know if it's playing in any theatre around here anymore. The only empire theatre it's still playing at is in Vancouver.

I enjoyed this more than I thought I would.

And to avoid subtitles is to avoid many of the best films cinema has to offer!
