For me it is called "Where the Heart is". Ashley Judd starred in the movie. I had read the book before the movie came out. I read because it was in Opera's Book Club!!;)

Mystic River was a great book and the movie was excellent. I find movies are rarely as good as the book but this wasn't the case with Mystic River. For example, I loved The Da Vinci Code when I read it but was really disappointed in the movie. I think it was because the book was unlike anything I had read before and in this case, knowing how it ends kind of ruined the movie for me. I'd be curious to hear from those who saw the Da Vinci Code movie without reading the book first. Those people would probably enjoy the movie more than those that read the book first.

moniblue I know what you mean take Angela's Ashes for another example I LOVED the book but I was so disapointed in the movie... just not even close
:(

Oh and I did not read the Da Vinci Code book and I liked the movie so maybe it is better if I don't read it :)

The movie was almost identical to the book. I had read the book first and then when i finally saw the movie..i was bored, because i already read it. Not many differences at all.

My favourite book turned movie that I have read is To Kill A Mockingbird.

My favourite movie that was a book turned into a movie that I haven't read is Stephen King's IT.

My favorite would be Schindler's List. The book had 10 times more content but the movie put it in bit size pieces for the average viewer to be able to absorb but not be overwhelmed by the history.

Good pick.

Another I'd pick would be Once Were Warriors, though I haven't read the original Alan Duff novel.
