We at the City view creating a safe and healthy workplace as a fundamental obligation of every employer, a basic requirement of every job, a duty of every employee, and a distinct characteristic of a caring organization. Safe and healthy workplaces result from these dedicated efforts of management staff working closely with all employees to eliminate hazards and prevent workplace accidents.
Our goal at the City is to eradicate accidents and occupational illness from all City of Saint John workplaces and job sites, and we move forward with the conviction that we will ultimately succeed in this. We are absolutely committed to continuous improvement in safety, job quality, and service to our community.
The cost in suffering incurred by employees involved in workplace accidents is beyond words alone. Only injured employees and their loved ones truly understand the full consequences of workplace accidents. The loss of a single employee is an irretrievable loss to all of us, and to our community.
Accordingly, on this special day, we remember with respect and commitment those who have perished or suffered life-altering injuries in the performance of their duties.
