Neat. We rarely have more than one light on at a time anyway. Also, we use those spring lights. The $20 box (15 in it.) saves us between $15 and $25 a month in energy costs. I really recommend people use them! The reduced carbon and energy costs is something we feel good about.

I find the cfl gives me a terrific headache. Don't know if it's the blue light or the flickering that can't be seen by human eyes. Do you know if they have the yellow (warm glow) cfls yet? Wonder if they'll still have the flickering problem. I will try to do the dark thing tonight for 1 hour. From 8 till 9 right?

Mine have a yellow glow.. They are actually the cheap walmart brand.. and i find them great.. they are around $13 for a box of 6..

also.. i am VERY interested to see if the larger companies will participate in this.. It will be one freaky looking city!

Point Lepreau had shut down their reactor, does that count?

I doubt it! lol

I was wondering if the refinary would shut their lights off.. it would look like the "little city" disappeared..

Is there anything going on in Saint John for Earth Hour? Has anyone heard anything? Must be a gathering of some kind somewhere. Besides easier to turn off all lights when you leave your house.hehehe

Not a chance. Would lose to much money to shut that thing down for an hour.

Lights off at the refinery would be a safety hazard in my opinion.

Superstore on Rothesay Ave shut down some of their lights. Some street lights were off on Crown street but I don't know if that was on purpose.

We had an Earth Hour service at our church, all done by candlelight. Very spiritual and informal. Great idea.
