software doesnt typically make a computer run any faster.

there could be a thousand reasons it's running slow... some physical, but mostly software related issues. Cleaning up the system is usually what's best... ideally formatting and re-installing the OS and software.

But if you arent comfortable doing that on your own, you should seek the help of someone savvy at that.

OS X comes free with a purchase of an Apple computer. This will make your computer run faster. It'll also take out the guess work on spyware, viruses, and other funny stuff your computer could be infected with. Unless your great on computers, skip out on a PC. Buy an Apple as you will get a user-friendly computer that runs well. But yeah, free OS X with a new Apple computer.

live one care-works really well, do the full scan, it's free. also you should be running at least 1 gig of memory.you should edit your startup programs too, not sure how to do this on xp but you should be able to google how to.
