I have a DVD player that will play DivX. Do you have to burn a DivX file a certain way or do you just burn it as a data file and the DVD player will pick it up??

Thanks

You can use Nero or similar program and make a data disc of the Divx movie

Two things...

Yes, as Adam-07 mentioned, just burn the Divx file to a CD-ROM or DVD-ROM like any other data, and when you put it in your player you should get a list of the file(s) on the disc.

However, some players will not work unless you register them first... on those players, follow along here:

Before you can play DIVX files on your set top DVD player, you need to 'register' your player online. ( check your DVD player manual or on-screen menus for exact instructions... but basically you get a registration # from your player's menu, that you key into the divx website (www.divx.com/vod (http://www.divx.com/vod))

You will need to follow the instructions on that website, but once you've registered your players registration #... you will download an .ISO file which you will have to burn (using nero, or some program that burns ISO files) and place the CD into your player and it will activate your player for DIVX and DIVX/VOD content.

The reason for this is to ensure you adhere to the terms and conditions of Divx license agreements... which we all do, right? :)

Once you have done this, then yes, again, burning the files to a CD or DVD disc is all that is needed... nothing fancy or silly procedures.

I just put the *.avi files that I download as data on a DVD, usuall can get 5 full movies on one DVD. When u insert it in the player, it shows the index with all 5 movies.
