Not sure where this should go.. I didnt see a discussion section under automotive.

I am looking to see my 2 door cavalier in the spring.. for a 4 door.. something... but i just bought 4 brand new winter tires.. 195/75R14 i believe.... they r definately 14's.. Obviously 5 bolt pattern.
If i decide to go with a car that carries a 4 bolt pattern.. does that matter with these tires?

and as long as they are 14 inch rims.. can i use these tires?

14 inch tires will only go on 14 inch rims just like 15 inch tires on 15 inch rims, bolt pattern wouldnt matter to tires.

ohh, they tell u the height or the width, i dont think it would matter as long as the 4 are the same size, but to be honest i'm not sure,. lol

your new car will tell u what size tire u will need. I would only use tires which are specific to your car. If u use others tires it will throw off your speedo, and can affect the handling of your vehicle. its best to use the tire size for your vehicle just to be safe!!!

195/65 R 15

195 is the width of the tire, i.e. 195 millimetres from say the outside to the inside of the tire.

65 is the aspect ratio of the sidewall, i.e. the height of the sidewall in this case would be 65% of 195 millimetres or 126.75 millimetres.

The "R" stands for radial tire.

And 15 is the rim size, i.e. 15 inches in diameter.

As redbridgelane said, getting a tire with some of these sizes different will change the circumference of your tire which will affect the speedo etc. because one rotation of the tire will either be further or shorter than intended by the manufacturer depending upon the size that you put on.

tirerack.com can tell what size tire will fit your specific car and what size tires you need if you want to put on a bigger or smaller rim. Just pick "tires" and enter in the year and make of your vehicle.

Good luck and merry xmas.
