If you can't find a place to donate them, make sure you recycle them. The chemicals in the batteries are not something you want in a landfill.

I saw a show where they were talking to a "collectable" expert. They asked him what he thought might be worth saving now, what are the everyday things we have now that may become more valuable in the future.

He said that things become collectable because they become rare. Hardly anyone kept their old hockey cards, so they became rare. He said that old cell phones may also be worth something some day because everyone just throws them out.

Ten, twenty or thirty years from now, people may want to have a cell phone just like they had when they were younger. Kind of like how people want to have their old cars back. Who knows?

I got too much junk already to start saving anything else, but I thought I would pass that along.

The Canadian Diabetes Association collects used cell phones and printer cartridges. The cell phones do not have to be in working condition, for more information call 1-800-505-5525 (toll free) or 693-4232 (locally).
