Has anybody else received the phone call from the people offering over $1800 worth of free local gift certificates, all for the low price of $59.99? People calling from ontario pretending that they are sitting in Saint John. All they need is a credit card....Didnt seem legit to me...

Always ask them for a number that you can call them back at and if they have a website where you can verify their information. If they give you this info, tell them you will look at their website and call them back if you feel they are legit.

I personally would never buy anything over the phone and I especially would not give anyone a credit card # over the phone either.

Same, I had a call...poor guy was probably hung up on so many times today that he hardly took a breath, so instead of interupting him, I gently put the phone down and walked away ....he hung up eventually, cause my phone started beeping.

If it's the same thing I've been contacted about before, it consists of save $5 if you spend more than $30 for a meal at a place I don't eat at. Save $10 if you spend more than $50 at a place I don't shop. Save $500 on new windows if you buy $5,000 of windows I don't need. Needless to say, the $59.99 is still in my pocket.

It's scary to think that a company like Paypal or Ebay spends millions of dollars beefing up security to prevent identity theft and fraud. People are terrified to shop and bank online, but it is still okay for a business to solicit for a CC over the phone? No wonder people are hanging up on him. Whoever thought up this contest obviously left some holes in the plan.

Even if it was legit, that's risky business. What is stopping some random person from impersonating the k100 guy?

I have a friend who had get an assistance payment while waiting for EI. She went to superstore to have it cashed because she was in a rush anyways now they copy down all of your personal information in a book when you cash a cheque I guess...well the lady left the book wide open on the desk and went and took care of a customer!!! My friend and I could have memorized and stolen addresses, phone numbers, full name, and other confidential information.

I spoke with the GM of the store and scolded him for such a practice ! Businesses pay millions to keep information confidential and here was a book of people's info just waiting for me to look right down at it.

It's almost 2008 and these businesses need to get with it! Identity theft happens much easier offline.

Well, I don't need windows, and I don't shop much, but I do eat out. I can't think of a place in SJ I WON"T go now that Mikes is closed. There are a few places low down on the list, like Arbys since I'm not a fan of roast beef- heck, there's one place that I actually once got a cheeseburger with half the cello wrapper still on the cheese, and I'd still go back there, mistakes happen LOL. (no, it wasn't a fast food chain place)

Most likely I will be using some of these coupons as christmas gifts...the booklet is only $47.40 Tax included and is $20 off from last month, whereas it's getting late in the year....well worth the money no doubt. :)

That would be a great deal as long as most of it isn't (like I saw in another post) 500 off windows....well great if your replacing windows...but other than that it is usless...

I personally find when people are selling lets say coupons valued at $1500 for 50 bucks...a lot of the stuff in there most people aren't going to use...
hopefully that isn't the case with these

Anyway if you let us know how you made out that would be great...Thanks

Got home today and my girlfriend bought a book of them. Great deals! Not too bad for $40!

They come right to your door and if you don't like it, they leave.

10-23-2007, 06:24 PM
Yep it's exactly like Momma said...all that free plus more.....if anyone would like to order one, you can call Cathy, she's the local person. Her number is 645-8246 and she'd be happy to drop it off whenever it's convenient for you.

Now when to take those Massages...hrmmmmm hehe
