I believe she meant, Salmonella. Try saying it now, just the way it is spelt. Salmon ella. Now isn't that better.

'permple' (purple) was a funny one I had for quite a while as a kid - my sister was a hairdresser at the time lol
She always said 'perms are for hair' and coax me to say 'purr' like a kitten to help me get it right, funny memories.

For a while my son was calling Pistachios - 'Peesh-a-ti-ooo-s'
Took a bit to figure out what he was talking about after he had to describe them, we still laugh over that one lol

When I was younger I was sure that the number 13 was actually eleventeen... and I kept that up until I finally had to learn the right way... so it went, eleven, twelve, eleventeen, fourteen.... who knows why...

And as far as specific goes, I'd much rather hear SPEFICIC than the dreaded PACIFIC... as in, "Can you give me a PACIFIC example?"
Yeah, sure, how about the ocean?

As a small child it was "pasgetti" instead of "spaghetti". And an apple had an "apple cord" instead of an "apple core"...lol
My son could never say "exhibition" , it was Are we going to the "x a bick tion", it wasn't "tow truck" it was "towtow' truck
My father never was able to say "Quispamsis" he called it "quim pan sis"...lolol And it wasn't "Rothesay" , it was "Ross say"
My friend to this day cannot say "Woolco" to her it's "Wook oos"

Amazing isn't it how some words just never set right with someone...lol
BTW, this is a fun read from you all , keep m coming...lol

A lot of people have trouble with accessible. They say "assessible" which is a whole different word-one means wheelchairs etc can go there and one means something is capable of having a value appraised. It is pronounced ack-cess-i-bul.
Then there are at least two people I have heard who cannot say "Ellerdale", they HAVE to say Elder-dale. And I heard a Maine newscaster last week refer to a turbine as a "turban", which could lead to all sorts of misconceptions. It is of course tur-biiiiine.

I apparently would not say the number 16 when counting to 20 as a child, I didn't "like" that number. I could say 6, and teen, I just wouldn't. I also wouldn't say just bandaid, I called it a sore bandaid. And my mother has a cute story about a toy I wanted for Christmas one year, it was a Buckeroo. I'll leave it to your imagination as to what I said LOL.

I noticed a lot of people say fer or fur instead of for. You can't help but make a funny face when talking to someone that says that.

My sister use to have a hard time saying Specific, Always sounded like Pacific.

Here's one that a lot have trouble with; Molybdenum (mo-lib-den-um).

It's an element that is used in making 316 stainless-steel and if you have ever heard of 'Moly-Slip', which is a superior lubricant, it contains Molybdenum Disulfide.
