Ok, iSaintJohner's,

Time to hear everyone's pet peeve. You know you have at least one. Do you have a neighbour who uses his leaf blower 8 months out of the year? Does your spouse/partner have an annoying habit that is driving you crazy? Thought we could have some fun with this, as some of the threads have gotten quite intense lately.(if this has been done already I apologize, as I am fairly new here)

people that have a grocery order going to the express lane in the grocery store. The number of items are clearly marked 1-8, and still people wheel their carts up! :p

One of many pet peeves of mine is when my significant (not saying brilliant - LOL) other leaves his clothes inside out - especially his socks. EEEEWWW... I won't wash them. Won't touch anything like undies or socks that are inside out. Mine or my kids - no problem, for now, kids are 6, 4 and 1 they don't know better, oldest ones are learning to do it but I still forgive them if they forget, but my darling boyfriend is 40 and HARDLY EVER does it! :@

i know what really irks me is stupidity, i have no problem with ignorance because then most ppl are still willing to learn, but when ppl are just plain out stupid an wont even attempt to learn something properly that gets me big time.

Also, when the toothpaste falls off your toothbrush just when you get it to your mouth.

Rude people, but I'm not sure that's a pet peeve so much as an annoyance.
When my fiance uses my loofah. I hate it.. hahahaha! he bathes our daughter with it some times, and although, I do have like 7, that one is my favorite. She plays with it, looses it, I have to find it... it burns my biscuits. :P

OMG, what about the people that pull up to the speaker at Timmies and want to know what every soup is, what kind of muffins there are, what kind of sandwichs they have. This happened to me a couple of weeks ago! 20 min. I was behind these people. I couldn't move because there was a lineup behind me. I was soooo.. POed, that I totally forgot to place my order at the speaker, and drove right up to the window! :o

My fix for those of you with TP issues....I now have a little cubby in the wall for TP no roller to change! lol

My peeves are:

-Smokers who light up next to my children and then look shocked when I call them on it.
-and lets not forget....people who chew with their mouths open!!

People from Saint John bother me....riding their 10 speeds with the handle bars turned up, wearing nothing but Tommy Hill Figure jeans and a jean jacket. Showing up at weddings wearing sweat pants and stealing the decorations...drives me nuts. The way they keep saying "that there" and "them there" puts me over "the edge." Don't even get me started on their insistance on driving Chevy Cavaliers dressed up to the point that its embarrasing to be parked in the same parking lot as them..... ;)

I don't think anyone has mentioned this yet - maybe it doesn't bug anyone else but me*L

People who post things for sale/free and leave basic info out - like sizes of clothes, brand/size of TV’s (those are just a few examples) - but then when someone asks the obvious questions - the seller PM's the other person (and posts that they've PM'd potential buyer) - then someone else asks the SAME question and the seller PM's the next potential buyer - holy crap *L* why not just post the information for everyone to see as these questions will be basic questions any possible buyer will have.

- When people reply to threads to say they are stupid
- When people claim they are not allowed to have an opinion because someone disagrees with them
- People who judge other people when they have no idea what it is like to go through or be in the circumstance they are in. Judgment is a good thing when it is about making healthy choices, but not when it comes to making quick decisions about an entire group of people based on a common link- That is when judgment becomes unhealthy.
-Needless rudeness or stupidity (especially if your only intention is to offend someone).
-The way the media and society has destroyed what a healthy body image is.
-When you organize your groceries so that the cashier will bag them into similar categories (meat, veggies, frozen, can, etc), but they just throw it all in together anyways and usually stuff the bag too full. I never say anything besides thank you, but on the inside it really bothers me.

Well I am glad I got that last one out it was itchin' at me....

I totally agree with this one, and only because I had someone drive through my house once because he was talking on his cell phone! (no one other than himself got hurt)

*people who cannot construct a proper sentence. (i dun did dis thang last nite....and continue what should be 6 sentences, and do not put a single period through the whole thing...)
*not smokers in general, but people who smoke and have no regard for someone who does not.
*People who do not wear belts...(I work in a call center, so I see the results of this one EVERYDAY! come one people! Like do you think other's find the crack of your behind attractive? NO!!)
*Swearing out of context. Yeah sure, I swear around my friends. I stop around elders, children, and work.

Seems like not to long ago a lot of people were complaining that people DON'T hold doors - now they do and people get upset *L* What's a person to do.

Anyway - as far as my "Right" post - I don't feel it's a Maritime thing. We don't put "Right" in front of all of our sentences. Again as I mentioned "Right the nice dress" – While speaking in this grinding voice (best way I can describe it). Anyway maybe it’s just in a certain area of the city - I don't really know. I guess if you haven't noticed it before or haven't been bothered by it then it is inconsequential to you.

I can't stand gossip's, just hearing someone take glee in anothers misery makes me want to scream. I tell people I don't want to know anything bad, but, if there is something I can help the person out with then by all means tell me. Do not spread things about others that you wouldn't say to their face.

I can't stand it when people are judgemental and only take one side of a story and run with it. Then when they are proven wrong they side step the issue.

I can't stand rude people and I really get annoyed with people who have no patience for older people or those who do not give respect.

Oh and other drivers, oh how I hate being cut off when there is not one car behind me for miles. Then have the person who swings out in front of me go 20 km under the speed limit.

There are too many driving issues to count that annoy me. :) lol my goodness I sound like a very annoyed person.

I also hate how young pretty girls get away with everything and us slightly less than perfect seem to get the book thrown at us. I've seen some of my pretty friends giggle their way out of a ticket. I try to smile (perhaps it looks like a grimace lol) and I get the highest fine possible.

Oh my yes I hate gossip! It's goes beyond peeve for me lol

As I've mentioned before I work in a call center and any time you get large numbers of people all working under one roof you will find a huge gossip mill running.

The funniest bit of gossip I've run into at work happened the day after one of the reps on my team quit. Her excuse she gave when handing in her resignation was that I had been passed over for a promotion. (This of course was not her real reason lol) She had done this quite publicly.
So as I come into work the next day a woman (40ish) runs over to me (who obviously had seen me around but did not know my name) And asks "have you heard? (insert my real name) <INSERT name real my>quit yesterday! She didn't get the position she wanted so she walked out!"
I put a shocked look on my face and said really are you sure???
She responded Oh yes! It's true I saw it my self!!
I looked at her and said...Wow I never take drugs but I must have yesterday because I don't remember quiting!!! And I walked away.

That rumor circulated for months before it died off. LOL

People that call my house after 10pm. I have 2 small kids in bed and I worked a 12 hr day. HAVE SOME RESPECT!

People who try to rear end you for stopping at crosswalks. I only stop at crosswalks, not for jaywalkers. It's the law so don't rearend me for it.

People who cross the street/parking lot diagonally and taking their sweet time. I'm not asking you to run, just walk with the intention of going somewhere.

I know there was a thread on this a while back, but my pet peeve is defiantly customer service.

I've worked in customer service for a few years now. It's pretty basic and to me, it's common sense. You treat people courteously and with respect.

Yesterday I went to a Tim Hortons restaurant and ordered a sandwich combo.
The young cashier was talking to her friends on the right side of me (why they let her have a group of friends at the counter is beyond me). She looked at me and rolled her eyes, asked me what I wanted.
When I asked for a BLT sandwich, she just blurted out "F***"
Not under her breath. She said it and again rolled her eyes.
She yelled really loud at some guy out back, telling him he had to get my order ready.

I was so shocked. I understand having a hard day and not being extremely excited to work, but there is a limit.

I don't think anything gets under my skin more than someone who is too ignorant to do their job. Someone is paying you to do this...

My pet peeve lately has been my upstairs neighbour. I come home from work and it's very quiet in our place. I kick off my shoes and start to think about what I'm going to have for supper. It never fails! I'm not even home for 5 minutes and the neighbours have their music on. It wasn't on when I got home. Our neighbours are my parents age (about 45-55)!! I would expect it from some kids if theyw ere living upstairs but not from my older neighbours. My husband and I are in our late twenties and we have never had the music turned up loud enough for them to hear it. How disrespectful!

The_Dave
07-30-2007, 06:15 PM
Start playing music at what you may feel to be inappropriate times for them. They may get the message. Better yet, just go talk to them. It may be just a simple issue of getting the speakers off the floor, but if you don't talk to them, how are they going to know that this bothers you? Who knows, you may be doing something they do not like and this is their way to bother you.

Tonight I waited so long in the line for popcorn at the movies that I gave up and went to the movie without spending a cent... when they started taking debit and credit cards at the counter it slowed things down and I mentioned it to the manager that they should have a cash/voucher line only...too bad he didn't take my comment, they lost $10 tonight X 3 of us there (and X any # of future movies, I will be coming prepared to not spend so much time in line that I am late for the start of the movie-that I guess is really my pet peeve, people or situations that make me late so I have to go in when the theatre is dark)

Now there I disagree, I PREFER to see it in theatres, I have been to 8 movies in less than 5 weeks- Silver Surfer, Spider Man 3 twice, Harry Potter twice, Nancy Drew, Ratatouille and Hairspray. I love going to movies. I always buy something at the concession stand. For me it is the whole experience, the money never enters into it. But when you arrive at 6:10 for a 6:35 movie, you shouldn't have to wait in line so long you miss your movie start, I have had too many falls on movie theatre stairs and so I prefer to enter before the lights have gone down. Maybe I will email the manager again, like that will do any good at all, it obviously didn't last time.
PS, another pet peeve (Which you didnt do) is people who try to get me to do illegal downloads. I feel that is so wrong, people deserve to be paid for their creations. It would be like me going to work and working all week and having my manager say "You aren't getting paid, the customers would have been here anyway and they didn't really need that much service."

Here is what really bugs me.......When people have Yard Sales, they take the time to post there sighs with address all over town to get people to come..and thats great...but when I,m driving to work the following week and there sighs are still nailed up and the Yard Sale has been over for days now, I get really annoyed. If you can take the time to put it up.......PLEASE take the time to take it down....The city is alloying you to post these sighs on there property..be grateful and go back and remove them. Well now I,m glad I got that off my chest...lol

That's one of the main reasons why the city wants to ban posting on poles.

The movie industry and the music industry have allowed illegal downloading to mess with their craft. They almost welcomed it in.

For one thing the music industry started appealing to an age group who did not buy cds. Too young, no money, they downloaded Baby One More Time.
Also they concentrate on singles instead of overall album quality. What ever happened to a concept album?

Neither industry has successfully adapted to the times of illegal downloading because they do not want to sacrifice their dollars and cents.

The movie industry overproduces pieces of crap and then charges you an arm and a leg to go see it or buy it. Most movies full of special effects cost so much to make and have no story at all. A story between characters is cheap and only requires talented writers.

I download movies like Spiderman 3 because they are not worth paying to see. I do not care if the Spiderman rich fat cats get richer. Now a movie like Little Miss Sunshine or I Heart Huckabees I am going to buy for my collection. I enjoy a story appealing to the human condition more than a bunch of special effects exploding in my face. Once you see how the effects are done it ruins it. It is hard to get lost in a world with no plot and big shiny bangs.

If I am a true artist I am going to want my craft to get out there to the people who normally could not afford to pay for it anyways. If your movie or album is quality people are still going to buy it. And they may never have had a chance to experience it without downloading it and therefore may never purchase it in the first place.

I think it is the industry that is going to have to adapt to this one...we'll see.

I am not sure you could call this a pet peeve, maybe more of a suggestion.

In the For Sale/Trade Forums when someone posts without a Thread icon. On the main page there are about 15 in a row with no main thread icon and I find they all kind of blend in together. Using an icon will help get your ad noticed.

I mean no disrespect by this, it doesn't really "bug" me, but I do find a main Thread icon helps your post stand out. :D

I hate it when people use their daytime lites when it is raining or snowing. Most daytime lites don't turn on the back lights but I think a lot of people think they are on when they are not. Very dangerous.

My pet peeves r when it is a dirty day out and u r waiting to cross the street (especially when u have small children) and a lot of ppl in their nice warm and dry cars won't stop for 2 seconds to let u cross the street.

-oh and another one, this one is gross..... when someone goes #2 and even after they flush there is still stuff in the toilet, like why can't ppl wait a sec after they flush and if it all didn't go down then flush again. and plz spray the bathroom afterwards!!!
-And ppl that forget to flush period.
-EEEWWWW and hairs from certain areas on the bar of soap in the shower, now that really makes me gag.

pet peeve of the day is my bank- I need to transfer over RRSPs from another place to them and I called first to see if I needed an appointment- nope all I need is my account number and my customer number and some ID. So I drove all the way over west to find they needed my statement too, with an address. It's Manulife, you don't have an address for Manulife? I had to drive all the way back home to try and find a statement, in the middle of lunch hour-cruise ship traffic. Arrgggh. Why didn't they tell me when I phoned that I needed a statement? Do you think I live next to the bank? My branch is west, I live near the causeway. I don't like wasting gas like that. I could switch branches but generally I prefer to deal with the place where I know the people. I know one thing, I am not leaving the house again for at least an hour til the traffic dies down, it took me 10 minutes to drive from Charlotte St to my block of Queen St.

Also, picking at feet! Wether it be the dry cracked parts of the foot itself, or the toe nail! Nasty!

My Pet Peeves are:

- People who slop when they are eating. This drives me crazy. They sound like barnyard animals.

- People who help just help theirselves to my stuff without asking. It is different if I tell them to do it.

- Leaving an empty roll of toliet paper on the holder

Every once in a while my wife will want to go to a show at the Imperial. I have noticed that it doesn't matter how lame the show is, people in Saint John think it is their duty to give a standing ovation to every show that hits the stage.

My pet peeve though, the biggest one, would be the notorious "I want's" what ever happened to manners? All I hear everywhere I go is "I want that, or I want this..." I told someone the other day who said that to me that I would not sell it to them until they used proper manners, like "I would like to have this"...lol it was my friend do not worry, I would not say that to a stranger, but sometimes would like to.

No, it would not have been me blocking the aisle as I was raised with manners and would be the first to get out of someone's way. Unfortunately most people raised today lack the simplest of manners.

New pet peeve!

I'm at the mall and I see a woman coming who looks like it's been a long day. She has a full shopping cart and 3 kids running around her. Of course I open the door and hold it for her.
So she didn't smile or say thank you, I don't care, I hope she went home to someone who can give her a break.
My peeve was the rude person standing beside me who very loundly said"The least she could have done was say thank you!"
So not only has this stressed out mother had a stressful time shopping with her kids but now she has some stranger insulting her.

If I had been offended which I certainly was not! I could have said something myself. If everyone would just stop sweating the small stuff we would be a lot happier!

people that have a grocery order going to the express lane in the grocery store. The number of items are clearly marked 1-8, and still people wheel their carts up! :p

Gawd...I did just that on sat , the store was crowded , so I was looking to see a light at one of the checkouts , seen on with a short line and as u say I wheeled up and got in line feeling quite pleased for finding a short line that was moving right along.
My turn came , I unloaded the 25/30 items I had ,the cashier was ringing them in and I said to the cashier , fill the bags right up if u like ,and it was then that reality hit when she said "Oh we don';t bag here I must have had a stunned look on my face because she said this is express lane 8-10 items, let me tell you at that moment I felt like a complete idiot.

It was my mistake for not looking beyond the counter light and seeing the express sign. But then she should of said something to me before I unloaded .
I had 4 bags of groceries .

will be checking more closely next time .

Yes I have a new pet peeve. Sales clerks that forget or fail to remove all the security bars from clothing. About 1 month ago, I purchased a jacket for my son. The clerk removed 1 security bar, however there were 3 more attached in various areas of the jacket. Had to take the jacket back to the store to have the bars removed. A sweater I purchased for my daughter for Christmas came complete with the security bar attached. Now I will have to return to the store to have it removed. Crap this bugs me!!!!
