Just in case you have not heard Canada is July 1st every year but not this year it is July 2nd!
Where July 1st is on a Sunday the holiday is being held on the Monday.So any businesses usally opened Sundays 12:00-5:00 will be open on July 1st the 12:00-5:00, but they will be closed on Monday July 2nd.
So does this mean all events will be on Monday the 2nd not Sunday the 1st??(New River Beach,outdoor concerts<Mispec events,giant flea market, etc)

Hmmm... not a thing posted on the SJ Tourism site except the Martello Tower event on July 1st.

As far as I'm concerned July 1st, like any other holiday is July 1st. However because the actual holiday falls on a Sunday which would technically mean that a long weekend is not necessary, the Government would observe Monday as being the Holiday in lieu of Sunday so that we can all enjoy a day of rest even if the holiday celebrations are on Sunday.

My point exactly how can you enjoy the celebratin activities if you are having to work!Celebration activities should be held on Monday because of some having to work when they normally would be off for the holiday but they need to work Sunday.
