im looking to try and overclock my old pIII. Its one of the old mmx 450mhz/512kb cache's, ive currently got it to 504mhz, but cant seem to get past that. The heat on it hasnt got up any since hitting 504, only by a degree or too so that doesnt seem to be a factor, but when i try to go higher it wont even get me to my bios, any help on procedure's, or possible software would be great. can reply here pm or email at mattpage84@hotmail.com

so is there any good software you may recommend to handle temp's and warnings? or manage the over clocking in a little more professional way?

i actually managed to find a website last nite, it didnt specify what they were using for a motherboard, but they claimed they where able to keep it stable at about 560mhz for the same model as mine, 450mhz/512kb/100/2.2v. ill see if ican track it down again and check out the motherboard and stuff, money is the issue i am coming acrossed thats why im trying to get the best bang for my buck lol

Download SpeedFan

You can always overclock a CPU with NO ILL EFFECTS as long as it is cooled properly. They key is to increase the voltage slightly to account for the extra power needed.

Also the multiplier won't do jack on a Intel.

well i think the problem is with the pIII's is alot of them have the voltage locked so im not able to adjust it, when i go into my bios to check on it, the only thing in the area i can adjust is the temp warning level, and the temp shut off level. there's no option for me to adjust the voltage levels, any help here?

That is the motherboard NOT the processor.

You can always increase the voltage no matter what the CPU is. All depends on your motherboard.
