I just bought a laptop recently without an S-video output on it. It has VGA out so I bought a VGA to S-video/RCA adaptor. For some reason I cannot get the secondary monitor to work, I can plug in another monitor without the adaptor and it works fine. As soon as I use the adaptor, it acts like a secondary monitor is not detected. I have XP as an OS.

Any help would be awesome, I have no experience with these adaptors.

Those adapters are garbage. They only work if your video card supports it. More than likely it doesn't.

Thankfully my video card has HDTV support and I just used Component cables. Great addition to my HTPC.
