I will be having people in for Christmas and I just got thinking today that I will be putting out a basket for donations towards a turkey for Romero House. I thought it would be nice if more people did this if they were having a party or social in their home.

Nice idea for sure, make sure to tell your guests first. Not everyone brings much money to a private, in-home Christmas party; I'd prefer to be forewarned. It's a touchy time of year for many people, some people would not like one more hand outstretched for cash; it can be a grabby time of year between greedy children, higher heat bills, plowing and shoveling expenses, and two dozen other charities' heartfelt appeals.
