I think District 8 would be the ones to do it.. their site / contact info is here:
http://www.district8.nbed.nb.ca/

I found this page too:
http://www.district8.nbed.nb.ca/pages/publicinfo.htm#reg
and it includes a link to this:
View Kindergarten - Welcome to School (http://www.district8.nbed.nb.ca/pages/Welcome%20to%20School.pdf)

That last link describes some kind of "Welcome" session for parents in March, so that parents can help prepare kids who will enter kindergarten in the autumn.

I wouldn't use tutoring places f(like Sylvan, Tutoring Club, etc.) for testing, because they kind of have an incentive to use the testing as a way to drum-up business.

Also, I remember having some kind of basic test just before entering grade 1 when I was a tyke :), and I also know someone who had some testing done in a later grade by the District... so I think they would do it. Or they could give you like an official answer on where else to have it done.

I actually took my son outside the district for testing and assessments.(18 month + wait list). We were luckily covered under my husbands health insurance so the money we had to pay out for private assessments and testing we did get back. It is VERY costly to go the private route.
